Lisa Sirbaugh Receives Three ADDYs at the 2019 American Advertising Awards

The annual American Advertising Federation-Greater Frederick American Advertising Awards gala was held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 and, oooohhh, what an incredible night!! It’s always such a treat to spend the evening with so many creative friends and celebrate the blood, sweat, and tears that we pour into the diverse display of work that’s entered each year.

This year was no exception. I was incredibly proud and honored to receive three ADDY Awards for creative work done for Kentucky Hug. One each for Direct Mail Advertising, Logo Design, and Integrated Brand Identity Campaign. A heart-felt thank you goes out to our copywriter, printers, and apparel screen printers for collaborating on these projects and bringing your absolute best to the table.

It was truly an honor to receive this recognition on behalf of such a fantastic client. Cheers to to all of this year’s winners, to Kentucky Hug, and a big thank you to this year’s judges.

The American Advertising Federation’s American Advertising Awards is one of the industry’s largest creative competitions, attracting nearly 35,000 professional and student entries each year through local club competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in advertising. The AAF-Greater Frederick’s American Advertising Awards is the first step in the three-tiered competition. Winning entries move on to compete at the Regional level—competing against New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC agencies, firms, and studios. Winning work from the second tier of the competition then move on to compete at the National level.

American Illustration Announces 34th Annual Competition Winners

It’s an incredible honor to announce that four illustrations created for the Catoctin Breeze Vineyard Composer Wine Series have been selected for the American Illustration 34 Annual. This year’s winning work was presented at American Illustration’s annual launch party and exhibition held in New York City on November 4–5, 2015. From the 9,175 entries submitted by illustrators, magazines, agencies, publishers, and schools, only 592 winning entries were selected and are on permanent display in The Archive. Of those winning entries, 377 pieces were selected to appear in the AI 34 Annual Book—these whimsical illustrations included.

A huge thank you to the American Illustration 34 grand jury for this incredible recognition and congratulations to all of this year’s immensely talented winners!

The American Illustration 34 Grand Jury

This year’s distinguished jury, made up of art, photo, and design creative professionals, included: Lindsay Ballant, Creative Director, Foreign Policy; Sarah Garcea, Art Director, Inc. Magazine; Walter Green, Art Director, Lucky Peach; Anne Ishii, Owner, Massive Goods; Wyatt Mitchell, Creative Director, The New Yorker; Oliver Munday, Graphic Designer, Knopf/Pantheon Books; and Eric Skillman, Graphic Designer, Criterion Collection.

Founded in 1982 by a committee of esteemed illustrators and art directors, American Illustration–American Photography (AI-AP) was created as a direct alternative to other leading organizations and companies of the day who it was thought were not recognizing unconventional, “cutting-edge” work that was being produced by unheralded artists who were pushing the boundaries of commercial work.

The AI-AP juried award annuals, offering high visibility and well-deserved recognition where it matters most, are still published in all their large-format, luxurious, hardcover glory, staying true to their founding principles of celebrating great photographers and illustrators, lavishly showcasing commissioned and personal work that’s ahead of its time, while honoring the publications, creatives and agencies responsible for assigning and utilizing the winning images. Students and schools are also celebrated right along side established and emerging artists.
